This is another of your informative, though conservative, articles. I found useful information that even a liberal could put to good use. I especially liked the links to GovTrack.us, the Moral Liberal, and OpenCongress.org. The one thing that was glaringly missing from two of those sites was mention of the District of Columbia. There was no voting record for the DC Representative, Eleanor Holmes Norton, because she is not allowed to vote. She can introduce legislation and sit on committees, but has no vote. The 600,000 citizens cannot write their Senators because they have none. So while Washington, DC is likely to be city most affected should this act become law, the citizens who live there have no representation in Congress about how they feel.

Just thought I would add a little perspective. Again thanks for the great job.

This was quite a thought provoking piece. I have always been a strong advocate of choice, especially when it comes to the sanctity of my own body. To quote the author of the piece,"My thinking seems to be in line with God’s thinking on this matter as well. He thought that a person, a family, a tribe, a nation would be better served if people had free-will choice." How refreshing!
This is a far cry from the usual Republican platform of dictating anti-abortion policy. Further into the piece, the value of choice is bolstered, "There is some danger in giving choice to individuals and to groups, but it is also the only way that full potential can be developed. Certainly we can make the wrong choices, but that doesn’t mean that’s always bad. There are things that can be learned and gained from both wrong and right choices. With choice there is also check and balance from others." Isn't that the definition of freedom?

Thank you for your ongoing sounding of an alarm. If alarms are sounded long enough and loud enough perhaps we will wake up and see what is going on in a nation that is rapidly losing its identity and certainly its greatness.

When asked what kind of government had been decided upon Benjamin Franklin replied, "A Republic...if you can keep it." A Republic is a government of the people. They decide what is best for the good of all. A Democracy is when enough wolves have been placed in power that they now rule the sheeple. The "New" government is when the wolves have finally acquired enough power that the sheeple have become SACRIFICES upon the altar of their mastery. The Wizard (s) of change decide all things for all people. Obviously we haven't kept the government that was originally given to our nation. We have fallen prey to inner corruption in the same way that caused other great nations to fall throughout history. Another quote, which is attributed to Burke, is: "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." I believe there are many good people in our country, but we have been conditioned to do nothing by our political and, too often, our religious leaders. They forget that the government was of the people, by the people, for the people. In calling to accountability those who were elected by the above group, how can that be construed as not being obedient to the government? Who is the government? Have the sheeple completely abdicated their right to that responsibility?

Excellent!! Why and how did we get to this crisis in the United States of America whereby our choices have been taken away? I for one can only hope and pray Obama will be voted out of office.

Thank you for being a voice crying in the (vast) wilderness. The purposeful misuse of money surely can't be because we have uneducated or naive persons making these decisions. Since the persons making them are neither of these, then I'm left with the opinion that it is willful, even malevolent intent against our nation that drives these decisions. Why we the citizens continue to be so uneducated and naive is a the greater question to be answered.

What you said, plus the incentives for employers to hire illegals. The money consumers save by perhaps paying less for consumer goods and services (because of the less expensive labor costs to employers) is otherwise spent by local, state, and federal government in providing welfare, education, and health services to illegals via taxpayer dollars.
